Unlimited obscure trivia
Every prompt has many right answers. The ones nobody else thinks of take you highest.
How it plays
A Clamber prompt has many right answers. You type one. If lots of people would type the same thing, the ladder barely grows, or it does not grow at all. If few people would think of your answer, more rungs appear and you climb. That is the whole scoring idea: be right, and be uncommon.
The ladder is measured in real height. It passes 25 landmarks, from the Statue of Liberty at 93 m through mountains, airliners and the edge of space, up to the Moon at 384,400 km. 21 of those landmarks sit on the way to the Moon. The rest, including Mars at its closest, the Sun, Jupiter, Voyager 1, only show up once you keep going in Endless.
This page plays mixed Endless: prompts from all 8 theme packs, shuffled, with no repeats inside a run. The clock starts at 20 seconds per prompt and shrinks as you climb, down to 10 seconds. A wrong or unknown answer takes 2 seconds off the clock and you can try again. If the clock runs out you fall. After 3 falls the run ends.
When an answer is accepted you see how rare it was among the answers for that prompt, then the climber moves. Common answers are safe: you stay on the ladder, but you do not gain much. A rare answer can carry you past a landmark in one hold. A fall drops you back below the last landmark you passed, so a height you just reached can slip away.
The daily climb stops at the Moon. Endless does not. If you keep finding obscure answers after that, the same ladder continues into deep space. You do not need an account. Your best mixed Endless height is stored on this device.
You can also lock Endless to one subject on the packs pages, or play today's shared climb of 10 prompts on the home page.
Sample prompts
One tougher prompt from each pack, so you can see the mix. The answers stay secret; finding the rare ones is the game.

Tips for rarer answers
- Skip the first answer that comes to mind. The headline name is the crowded one. The footnote, the side project, the river that is not the famous one: those climb.
- For places, think small countries and second cities. For sport, think smaller leagues and older tournaments. For history, think the decade before the one everyone names.
- Stuck? Skipping costs 20 points, less than a fall, and you keep the height you already have.
- Spelling does not need to be perfect. Common other names are accepted, so type what you know and let the matcher work.
Why rare-answer trivia
Most quizzes want the answer everyone knows. Rare-answer trivia flips that. Many answers are correct; the uncommon one is the one that climbs. It rewards a wide memory over speed. You still have to be right. A guess that is not on the list just costs a little time, and you can try again.
Mixed Endless across 8 packs is a good fit for that format. You never know whether the next prompt is a mineral, a film or a treaty, so the rare answer has to come from you, not from a category you prepared. Prompts and answer lists are built from open data such as Wikipedia and Wikidata, then checked and tuned by hand. How rare an answer is comes from how widely known it is, not from a score we invent.
FAQ
Is it free?
Yes. Clamber is free to play in the browser. There is no sign-up and no play limit on Endless or on the daily climb.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the page and type. Your run and your best height stay on this device. Nothing is stored in an account.
How is an answer scored?
Each prompt has many accepted answers, ranked by how widely known they are. The most common answers earn nothing. Rarer answers add more rungs. A miss costs 2 seconds and you can try again. If the clock runs out you fall, and 3 falls end the run.
Is there a daily mode?
Yes. The home page is today's shared climb: 10 prompts, the same worldwide, one attempt per day. This page is mixed Endless, which has no finish line and draws from every pack.
