About Concorde's cruise

Concorde cruised at around Mach 2, about twice the speed of sound, at heights up to roughly 18 km. It carried passengers between London or Paris and New York in under four hours from 1976 until 2003.

At that height the sky looks dark blue and the curve of the Earth can be seen. Friction with the air heated the fuselage so much that the whole plane stretched by several centimetres in flight.

You reach this landmark at 349 points. It is landmark 10 of the 21 between the ground and the Moon, which waits at 930 points. Its real height is about 1.7 times that of the previous landmark, Airliner cruising altitude.

Answers are worth 0 to 100 points depending on how rare they are, so even a run of nothing but the rarest answers needs at least 4 holds to get here. A fall drops you to just below the last landmark you passed, so a landmark you have reached can slip away again. See how to play for the full rules.
